RACIAL JUSTICE RISING
MASS SLAVERY APOLOGY
Mass slavery apology
Our statement of apology for slavery describes how our country's history of enslavement and brutal racism lives on in the present and, recognizing that an apology is meaningless if not coupled with appropriate action, makes commitments to meaningful change.
This was our original project, launched in 2009, and we have been told that it is both a powerful teaching tool and a moving step toward healing the wounds of our country's racism. (See comments page.)
Almost 500 people have added their names as signers to date. If you are of European descent and our words rings true for you, we hope you will consider adding your signature. We hope to bring this statement as a petition for a formal apology for slavery, first to our Massachusetts state government, and then to other states.
